Tara Patrice has been a fire artist and performer since 2012. She is a member of touring duo circus fire show Undead Newlyweds, as well as Flamewater Circus North America. She is trained in the arts of fire eating, fire breathing, and other fire manipulation skills. Tara has performed in festivals including Edmonton International Fringe Theatre Festival, Boo at the Zoo, Saskatoon Fringe Festival, San Diego International Fringe Festival, as well as a variety of other events throughout Canada and USA.
Ian Mikita is a musician, dancer, and actor with over a decade of experience entertaining crowds in and around Manitoba. His love of diverse music and dance shines through in his vibrant and dynamic style. He has performed at countless events and festivals including Winnipeg Folk Festival, Winnipeg Fringe Theatre Festival, Boo at the Zoo, and Assiniboine Park Zoo Lights.
Xaq The Freeman is a talented fire dancer and multi-instrumentalist based in Winnipeg. With over 18 years of experience in spinning fire, Xaq brings diverse skills to the stage, including poi, great staff, double staff, quad staff, nunchaku, and fire whip. In addition to fire dance skills, Xaq is also a professional photographer and musician, playing various instruments, and has taken the stage at numerous events and festivals including the Winnipeg Folk Festival, the Perennial Harvest Moon Festival, and the Arts Wells Festival of All Things Art.
Laura Canfield was born a dancer. After training in various forms of classical dance, she discovered belly dancing in 2007. Not long after that, she incorporated fire tools to compliment her fusion belly dance performances. Laura has trained with teachers across Canada and USA and has completed Levels I and II of Rachel Brice’s 8 Elements of Bell Dance training in Portland, Oregon. You may have spotted her performing at the Winnipeg Folk Festival, Winnipeg Fringe Theatre Festival, or Folklarama. Dance has always been a creative outlet for her. Laura enjoys the free flow of performing with fire and the opportunity to create dynamic, one-of-a-kind shows.
Paul is a fourteen year veteran of the Winnipeg fire spinning community. His love of photographing fire saw him move from behind the camera to in front. Paul has performed at festivals including Winnipeg Folk Festival, Fire and Water Music Festival, Nuit Blanche, and numerous other downtown Winnipeg festivals. Fire spinning is a form of yoga to Paul, a mental meditation if you will. Ahead of shows, he takes a moment to himself to ease his mind before putting it all out on stage.
Hello! My Name is Ezra Nickel, once known as The Sexy, The Smoldering, Captain Von Firebeard. Unfortunately in the throws of mediocrity, searching for a change, I shaved the beard. Now, unable to Firebeard and not bold enough to be smoldering I just go by Ezra. The lead safety for our little troup and Fire Fan enthusiast I bring over 10 years of performing experience to the table. Having preformed around the world Ezra Is ready to keep things safe and fire fan infused!
Multi-instrumentalist Peter Baureiss is a staple in the local fire scene and has been providing his rock-solid rhythms to Winnipeg’s finest fire dancers for over 20 years, having acted as beat-keeper for the city’s first and formative fire troupes. Classically trained in eastern music, Peter fuses his diverse and eclectic tastes into a style very much his own; his unique and original percussion technique is flavoured by Mediterranean, African, Indian, Latin, and Rock genres, and he has had formal ethno-musical training abroad in Cuba, India, and Ghana. Groove-maker and soloist, his beats are as funky as they are diverse, and inspire both performer and audience alike. Peter has been performing at festivals, clubs, and special events over the last two decades, and continues to be a sought after drummer due to his experience and musical diversity.
Prit Singh is a Sikh-Canadian multi-instrumentalist and vocalist who has been pleasing audiences with performances for over 30 years. His roots are in Sikh Gurbani Sangeet, Indian classical tabla, and Punjabi Bhangra music. He paints a tapestry of Indian Taal drumming with his Dhol drum. Prit is an exponent of exotic rhythms. His passionate beats will mesmerize and move your soul.
